Cruising!
After 5 days of cruising at sea on board the Norwegian Sun, we finally made it to Port! Due to the tropical cyclone (hurricane) approaching Brisbane, our itinerary changed and we were not able to stop there. The storm is a slow moving, Cat 2, and it will be making landfall later today so that is just fine by me! Besides, we fly directly to Brisbane so I can go there any time.
It's been a very relaxing five days aboard the ship. I've developed a nice little routine: cardio & core workout in the morning, breakfast, reading and sunbathing on the deck, nap, lunch, catch a meeting/group/game/other onboard activity, weights in the gym, dinner, and then whatever the evening entertainment is. So far the entertainment has included a vocalist, a juggler, a contortionist, and a cover band.
I've kept to myself the majority of the time, but have met a good amount of people as well. The ship is on the smaller side and being a 16 day cruise, it would be hard not to! I've attended group gatherings for Friends of Bill W. (AA/12 steps/Al-Anon) and the LGBTQIA+ community. One guy who also went to both groups happens to be from San Francisco, so I'm sure we'll keep in touch after the cruise.
There's plenty more pictures to share but I'm going to spread them out over a few posts since I have five days to catch up on. All in all, I'm having a fantastic time and cruising alone on a 16 day cruise is not as scary (or boring/lonely) as it sounds! The pictures on this post are all from the first few hours, boarding the ship and pulling out of Auckland harbor.
Hey son!! Sounds fantastic! I could get used to a life like that. You are so fortunate to be having these experiences. The ship looks nice! And what a nice combo of alone time that can be precious, and mingle time. Beautiful pictures!! Look forward to more. Love you
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful ship. I’m so relieved you avoided the cyclone. It looks like you still got some great weather. Sounds like you’re making very good use of all the ship has to offer and making friends too. Love the pictures.
