To Oz!

So this one feels particularly good. I keep a running "bucket list" of countries I want to visit. Lately, I've been able to knock off quite a few. Today, I finally get to cross of that one that's been sitting on top of the list forever: Australia!! I arrived in Sydney, Australia this morning around 8:30 am local time and I took the 15 hour flight despite not getting Delta One/First Class. I just knew I had to get here, and I actually slept quite a bit and had a pleasant ride in our second class cabin.

It's summer here but the weather is great! Mid to high 70s with a little cloud cover and a breeze, not too humid at all. Australia is easily a place an American or other English speaking bloke can get off the plane and feel at ease instantly.  Super easy to get around, communicate, etc. The trains here in Sydney are fantastic! Love me a good underground/metro system!!

MIND THE GAP!!!!

It was definitely a journey to get here and I literally lost a day in transit, so I'm gonna have to get a good night's sleep tonight before site seeing tomorrow. The pics in this post are of my neighborhood, Potts Point, very quaint and cozy. I took a lot of pictures of buildings cause I was surprised at how much it reminded me of NOLA, the architecture and front porches. I am right in Sydney Harbor near the famous bridge and Opera House. You can see them in the background of some of my military ship pics but I will get a lot closer tomorrow!

Time to go check in to my hotel, get some rest, then go see the sites tomorrow.

  1. More awesome photos – feels like I’m there with you! I will point out that the very steep stairway photo you posted looks amazingly like the exorcist stairs in DC/Georgetown, where Charlene blew her knee out in April. I will tell her not to look at this pic 🤣. Carry on nephew!! 💜

  2. Hi Cliff. I went backwards and am seeing your first post second. It’s nice to hear you had a comfortable flight. That’s super long to be on a plane. I can imagine how happy you were to step on Australian soil. Love the pictures and I see New Orleans influences too. Very cool.
