Arrived in Japan!
Thursday, Nov. 7th
I made it to Japan!! I landed around 6 pm yesterday, the airport (HND) was pretty easy to get through. Once I cleared customs, I had to book a room haha. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants when I travel and plan things as I go, cause you never know if you'll want to stay somewhere longer or change course. Once I booked my stay, I found my way to the monorail, bought a pass, then took two trains to get there. It cost about $4 and took 40 minutes. Much better than a $50 Uber that would have taken just as long!
So far, I LOVE it here. People are friendly but also respectful/keep to themselves. The history, culture, and architecture is just so much more rich than what we have in the West, for obvious reasons. I've only had one meal so far, but I can't wait for lunch and dinner tonight. My breakfast: from 7-11. If you talk to anyone who has been to Japan, it won't take long for them to bring up 7-11 and for good reason. They have such an amazing selection of fresh food!
The streets are clean and safe. There are lots of public restrooms which are also very clean. This is a big deal for me when traveling cause I stay out for hours at a time and drink a lot of water. Back home, it can be a pain trying to find a restroom, much less a clean one.
So far this morning I walked around Ueno Park and went to Asakusa, home to Senso-Ji Temple. I can already tell from here on out I'm gonna have one big problem: too many pictures!! For the sake of this blog, I'm trying to pick just the highlights. But next time you see me in person, I'll be happy to share the dozens, maybe hundreds more I'll have when this trip over.
For now, I'm going to take a little nap so I can head back out later and see some more sites!
Your pictures are amazing. Some don’t look even look real.
